Cost-based route planning via REST API

Route planning seems to be a problem that has actually been solved, from A to B. Value-based routing is a new approach. While the shortest distances or fastest routes can be planned for consumers, the situation is different in a commercial environment. It’s all about costs! Value-based routing uses cost factors, which can be different for each vehicle, employee and trailer combinations, and evaluates routes rather than minimizing distances. Two man crews, 3.5t or 40t with toll are all accounted for differently and result in completely different routes. Calculating the ETA and thus the driving time is one of the most difficult areas in route planning. To do this, we use our proprietary artificial intelligence model, which learns based on traffic flows and can precisely estimate journey times, especially important if you are not planning routes for “now” but for a point in time in the future; Even if planned a few hours in advance, purely “live traffic” based systems are useless.


Estimated Time of Arrival (ETA) Forecasting & Calculation

Reliable ETAs (Estimated Times of Arrival) form the basis for planning in logistics. Almost 60% of all supply chain managers criticize their current ETA solutions & predictions. Calculating the ETA (Estimated Times of Arrival) and thus the travel duration is one of the most difficult areas in planning in road freight transport and transport logistics.

We have developed a novel approach for this. We use a new proprietary artificial intelligence model, which is queried directly by our routing engine and which learns based on historical traffic flows and can very precisely predict the travel time of cars, vans and trucks; especially important, if you don’t plan for the moment, i.e. Arrival time is less than 1 hour, but for a point in time in the future,

The product is suitable for delivering predetermined entities in a cost-minimizing approach. Weights with loaded- and empty-kilometers are taken into account. Suitable for freight, passenger and service tasks on trucks, vans and cars. Many to many with random pick up and delivery stops with depot to customer, customer to depot, customer to customer in one optimization run. Suitable for inbound, outbound, just-in-time for FTL (full truck load) and LTL (less-than-truckload). Results can be exported as turn-by-turn navigation.

Fleet tour-planning, tour-optimization, dispatching or sometimes also called fleet orchestration solves the task, e.g. 10 heterogeneous vehicles with 100 transportation orders; which transport orders should be carried out by which vehicles, taking into account capacity constraints such as volume, payload, max. driving time and service times for pick up and delivery. The product is suitable for delivering predetermined loads or service orders with a cost-minimizing approach for the transport company. Weights and thus loaded and empty kilometers are taken into account, as well as heterogeneous vehicles in terms of costs and physical properties. Suitable for cargo, passenger and service tasks on cars, vans and trucks. Decentralized & serverless fleet control

Digital “Business” Twins

The decentralized fleet control is an R&D project and our long-term vision, it is a solution for fleet tour-planning or dynamic fleet control without the use of servers. A logically and physically decentralized system in which agents are modeled as “digital business twins” and run as vehicle-based decision-making modules on a hardware on-board unit. The vehicle can make decisions autonomously, evaluate, accept and execute transport orders and negotiate with other agents. While autonomous vehicles know how to accelerate, brake or turn, the question here is why. To do this, we model a multi-agent/-robot system in which the agents are represented by digital business twins and coordinate each other via a DLT/blockchain-based platform and come to a collective fleet decision. This is a paradigm shift in system architecture and a complementary technology to autonomous vehicles. This is the basis for a self-organizing fleet as part of the “machine economy”. Does that sound futuristic? It is!
